Piano Movers Benefits
Using a professional moving company can reduce your stress and guarantee a quick piano moving process.
Choosing professional piano movers like Movivan over a do-it-yourself approach or cheaper, less reliable services brings several key benefits. Firstly, we have a dedicated team trained in the specific techniques required to safely move pianos, eliminating the risk of injury or damage to your precious instrument that might occur with less experienced movers. Furthermore, we possess the necessary specialized equipment to handle all piano types and moving challenges, ensuring the secure transportation of your piano. Also, our comprehensive insurance coverage provides an extra layer of protection, giving you peace of mind.
By using a cheaper, less reliable service or attempting to move the piano yourself, you may save on initial costs but risk significantly higher costs later if the piano is damaged. Trusting Movivan with your piano move means choosing a service that blends expertise, care, and reliability, ensuring your instrument reaches its new home safely.

How Much Piano Moving Cost?
The average cost of moving a piano locally is £380. Depending on the size and weight of the piano we need to send 3 or 4 stron men.
The piano moving costs can vary greatly based on several factors, and while it’s difficult to provide an average cost without specific details, a professional service like Movivan ensures you receive the best value for your money. One of the key factors contributing to the final cost is the type and size of the piano. For instance, moving a grand piano will likely cost more than moving an upright piano due to the increased complexity and resources required. The distance of the move also plays a role, with long-distance moves typically costing more than local ones.
Any potential challenges, such as staircases, narrow corridors, or difficult access points, can also impact the cost as they may necessitate specialized equipment or additional manpower. Moreover, if your piano requires disassembly and reassembly, that could incur additional charges. However, with Movivan, you can rest assured that your beloved instrument is in capable hands and that you’re investing in its safe, secure, and professional transportation.

Piano Movers FAQs
If you have questions, you might find some of the answers below.
Can two movers lift an upright piano?
All our removal men are very strong and have experience moving pianos across London. If no stairs are involved we will wrap the piano and place it on a piano dolly. The dolly can be used also to take it out of the van and bring it inside your new home.
In case you have stairs or access is difficult, we suggest a team of 3 piano movers. When carrying the piano up, two men will push from the bottom while the 3rd person up will pull and navigate through the stairs. If the piano is going down, 2 of the movers will hold the piano from below, while the 3rd movers will hold the piano with a rope from above and navigate.
Can you move upright piano on its side?
While it is technically possible to move an upright piano on its side, it’s not recommended without professional expertise due to the internal mechanism and weight distribution. Incorrect handling can lead to significant damage to both the piano’s exterior and interior components. Therefore, for the safety of your piano, it’s best to rely on professional piano movers like Movivan who are trained to handle such delicate and complex tasks.
Is moving a grand piano more expensive?
Moving a grand piano compared to an electric or upright one is definitely more expensive. The first major difference is the number of piano movers required to move a grand piano.
When moving a grand piano with or without stairs we always send minimum 3 strong removal specialists for health and safety reasons. This immediately will increase the final moving costs of your piano.
Another important factor is that grand pianos must be dismantled and assembled to be transported, which will require more time and increase the final price a little bit.
Is your moving services fully insured?
Our local and long-distance moving services are fully insured for up to £50,000 per vehicle. If you are using our storage facility we cover your belongings with a minimum of £5,000 insurance cover free of charge, but we can increase it as much as you want it to be.
